WINEMAKING: Fruit was destemmed and crushed then cold soaked for 4 days before inoculation.  Primary fermentation was managed at 25 degC and allowed to warm to 30degC toward the end. Once dry, it was pressed into hogsheads (300L barrels) to complete malolactic fermentation.  Wine was matured in 30% new French oak for 15 months and fined with egg whites prior to bottling.

COLOUR: Deep crimson

AROMA: Ripe plums with hints of leather and violets. 

PALATE: A medium to full bodied wine with flavours of ripe plums, dark berries and kirsch; complemented by hints of leather and clove with structural tannins and a toasty oak finish.

CELLARING: Medium term cellaring will lead to more savoury and complex character. 

FOOD MATCH: Roast duck, Beef Bourguignon and young hard cheeses such as Gouda and Gruyere. 

Alcohol 14.5% 



“Out to impress. Good to see this Great Southern producer back in form with this excellent pinot noir.  Aromatic nose of spices and African violet, with a little sour cherry and dark plum. The palate is firm with a tight core of oak and tannin supporting fleshy fruit.”
